5 Minute Friday: ROAR
Go. ROAR
I get five minutes to write about the word Roar…My son is sitting next to me roaring like a lion. Isn’t that what we all think about when we hear the word ROAR? It is such a strong word that to me signals strength, perseverance and courage. I wish I were more like a lion roaring at times….acting with courage when I decide to make a change, having more strength to be a better christian each day my feet hit the ground.
It is so amazing to see how a Lion is used in the bible. His roar is used as favorable and as unfavorable. It turns my attention to a whole new view of the word roar: God’s judgement on sinners is pictured using a lion. Amos tells those who do not follow God, but still seek “the day of the Lord,” that the day they seek will be one of death for them, and not of life. “As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.” (Amos 5:19)
Amazing how we can read the bible and study the word and yet when the word roar comes to mind we think of courage and strength from “The Wizard of Oz” movie, of course. We see the positive use of the word lion in the bible from Ezekiel in Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
Today, I want to be more like the bold lion roaring out Jesus word and avoiding sin. Sound forth the gospel and be like a LION!

Brandy

When I am seeking a specific word, character trait, or piece of wisdom from the Lord I write scriptures, His promises, Things He has hidden in my heart on notecards, I tape the notecards up all over the house. My bathroom mirror, fridge, above the sink… I will pray for you as the Lord brings you to mind and look forward to your post at the end of the year about how He helped you find your inner lion =)
