Worry, Why do I worry?
He has to learn how to ride his bike. He is 5 years old. It is time for him to push through this. Do I look fat? Why is it I cant stay focused enough to lose this last 10 pounds? I really don’t want to have to buy new clothes. I want the house to look good for our company coming over tonight. I’m trying not to spend too much, but I want it to look nice. Are we being faithful enough to God? Are we tithing enough?
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
I have spent so much of my life worrying. I have worried about budgets, weight, children, husband, friends, family, my home. I have worried about making a good impression. I have worried about others who are struggling. I have worried about families members who may or may not know God and have a personal relationship with him. I worry. But, why?
Not only does worrying waste time, but it also NEVER solves the problem. It causes us to place the burden on ourselves, and not in GOD.
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Instead or worrying, place your requests upon God, through Prayer, and trust him. Let him do the worrying for you. God has a plan for us. For me. For you. For your children. For your struggling friends. God has a plan. Even in the difficult times, God is there, God is great, and God is giving.
“Worrying is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength- carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” ― Corrie Ten Boom
